Martina as a Photographer and Musician

Martina has been working on the development of her own photographic style for about 30 years, almost parallel to this process Martina took up the electric fretless bass when recording the two critically-acclaimed 3 Seconds Of Air albums with Dirk Serries and Paul Van den Berg, both on electric guitar.

As her photography continues to grow, expand and develop, slowly mutating into collages on canvas, so does her approach to music. Switching from electric bass to double bass to grand piano, she slowly mustered a technique that’s exceptionally hers.

Abstract and organic as her photography and visual art, she’s currently musically active in several projects, including teaming up with several (inter)national free improvisers like Dirk Serries, Patrick De Groote, Karen Willems, Colin Webster, John Dikeman, George Hadow, Andrew Lisle, Luis Vicente, Dead Neanderthals, Benedict Taylor, Luis Lopes, Gonçalo Almeida, Cath Roberts, Charlotte Keeffe,  José Lencastre … and part of the Tonus Ensemble.

Martina as a Mindfulness Trainer

What’s very important to me, and what I want to convey to you, as a reader or future practitioner, is that mindfulness is nothing more than a skill.

A skill you can only master through practice, trial and error. You can compare it to learning to ride a bike, playing sports, or learning to play a musical instrument.
This also requires patience, a lot of perseverance, and a lot of practice.

My challenging mission is to transfer this special and rich skill to the participants as effectively as possible.
And if you know me a little, I haven’t made it easy on myself.
So, I’ve put my authentic self, my creativity, my improvisation, my egg, into designing my own program, naturally taking the MBCT/MBSR methodology into account.
